This paper approaches corporate governance from the perspectives of economic policy, business law, and international comparative studies. We try to define the characteristics of Japan's corporate governance and attempt suggestions for future improvement. Our research plan was as follows: 1.Analyze European, American, Chinese, and other corporate governance reforms. 2. Study relations between Japan's business law and corporate governance and common issues. 3.Approach corporate governance from the perspectives of economic policy and business cycles, especially regards cycles and corporate scandals, and other problems of management governance. 4.Understand the present conditions of corporate governance in Japan's listed companies as well as small and medium-sized non-listed companies. In accordance with this plans, we sent out questionnaires this February as a preliminary survey for our study of corporate ownership structures planned for 2008. |
